The Greatest All-Around Athlete Contest
Diamond State Games June 2009

  The 8^th annual Diamond State Games will feature, for the first time, this contest open to male and female athletes in the following age groups:
18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50 and over.

  In June of 2009, contestants will compete over two days in twelve different events testing a person’s strength, stamina, speed, agility and coordination. Here are the events to be contested over the 2-day period:

  Day One
1-     5K
2-     Long Jump
3-     Weight lifting
4-     Basketball free throw shooting
5-     Obstacle Course
6-     Rope Jumping

Day Two
7-     Cycling 10K (on or off road tbd)
8-     Disc Golf Throw
9-     Swimming 200 yards
10-  100 Yard Dash
11- Football Field Goal Kick
12- Mystery Event (to be revealed after the completion of the Football Kick)

Points will be awarded in each event to each age group based on the number of participants and the order in which they finish in each category. For example, if there are ten participants in an age division, 10 points gets awarded for first, 9 for second, 8 for third etc. Complete rules for each event will get posted on the Diamond State Games website www.delawaresports.com as they are finalized.

  Athletes will compete for Diamond State Games gold, silver, and bronze medals, other prizes to be announced later, and a right to stake a claim as “The Greatest All-Around Athlete.”
