September 6, 2000 NEWARK, DE -- Giuliano Celenza took a long pass from P.J. Wakefield and beat Delaware goalkeeper Nick Konawalik from about 20 yards out to give the UMBC men's soccer team a 2-1 double overtime win over the University of Delaware Wednesday at Delaware Field. Delaware (0-2) got on the board first with nine minutes left in the first half. Brian Shepanski crossed the ball from the left corner. After a scrum in front, Seth Duhl managed to get a shot on goal. Mike Honeysett (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) scored off the rebound from 10 yards out on the left side. UMBC (3-0) tied the game with just over 17 minutes remaining in the game when Andy Wells scored on a penalty kick. Konawalik recorded seven saves in the defeat. Delaware returns to action Friday as the Blue Hens travel to Williamsburg, VA for the William & Mary Tournament. Delaware will play the host Tribe Friday at 7 p.m. and Old Dominion Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
