10/25/05 -- Junior Missy Pappas (Coopersburg, PA) recorded two assists for
Widener, which scored three second-half goals in a 3-1 Commonwealth Conference
victory over Albright at Edith R. Dixon Field.

Sophomore Nikki Bosso (New Castle, DE) scored in the 44th minute for a 1-0
Widener lead.  Pappas fired a shot from the left side and Bosso deflected it
past goalkeeper Rachael Becker for her third goal of the season.

Freshman Erica Rose (Plymouth Meeting, PA) tallied in the 55th minute to give
Widener (9-6, 3-4 CC) a 2-0 cushion.  She picked up a loose ball near the cage
and tapped it in for her sixth goal of the year.

Angela Gardner scored in the 60th minute to pull Albright (9-8, 1-6) within 2-1.
Lindsay Neal fired a shot from outside and Gardner was in front for her
team-leading 17th goal.

deflect in for her fourth goal of the year.

Pappas bumped her team-leading total to 30 points, good for seventh in the
conference, and her career total to 64 points.

Senior Kate Heritage (Clarksboro, NJ) needed just six saves for the Pioneers,
who gained a 27-9 shots edge. Meyer took seven shots with Rose and Bosso adding
five apiece.

Becker closed with 24 saves and Neal took four shots for the Lady Lions.

Widener closes the regular season Thursday at home against Richard Stockton,
beginning at 3:30 pm.

Jamie Lockard Hired as Men's Lacrosse Assistant Coach

10/25/05 -- Jamie Lockard has been named assistant men’s lacrosse coach
for Widener University by sixth-year head coach Jamie Steele.

Lockard returns to Widener, where he enjoyed four standout seasons from 2000-03
with 34 goals and 125 assists.  He is the Pioneers’ only two-time
All-American, leading them to three Middle Atlantic Conference titles and three
trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

His last two seasons were the most memorable, in which he was tabbed first team
all-conference, first team All-ECAC and Honorable Mention All-American each
year.  Lockard had 10 goals, 50 assists, won 179-of-253 face-offs (.708) and
notched 163 ground balls in 2002.  He was named the MAC Player of the Year.

Lockard kept his red-hot play going in 2003 with 13 goals, 48 assists, 155
ground balls and 190 face-offs won out of 284 (.669).  For his effort in leading
the team to a second straight conference title and NCAA Tournament berth, he was
named Widener University Male Senior Athlete of the Year.

Lockard served the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Muhlenberg College.

“Jamie Lockard is one of the best players and leaders I have ever
coached,” said Steele, who guided Lockard his final three years.
“Jamie has gotten some great experience working as an assist at Muhlenberg
the past two seasons, first under Dave Cornell and then Chris Bissinger.  I am
extremely happy and proud to have Jamie back with me at Widener.”

Widener has won eight of the last 10 MAC championships and three in four years
under Steele’s leadership.  The team opens the 2006 season February 26 at
Washington College.
