LC Field Hockey’s Andrea Fleming Selected for D-III North/South Game

 

            GLEN ALLEN, VA – Lynchburg College ’s Andrea Fleming ( Milford , DE / Milford ) was recently selected to compete in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III North/South Senior All-Star game.

 

            Fleming, a senior attack, is one of the most decorated players in school history, ranking second in goals with 88, and third in career assists with 30. This season, Fleming has posted 21 goals and six assists for a 14-5 Lynchburg squad that currently holds a 12 game winning streak. “She’s definitely one of the top 10 attack forwards in the country,” said head coach Enza Steele. A unique thing about Andrea is that she is a very unselfish player, despite her statistics.”

 

            The 2005 NFHCA D-III North/South Senior All-Star game will be played on Saturday, November 19 at Washington & Lee’s Turf Field in Lexington , VA. Game time is set for 9:30 a.m.

Hornet Women’s Soccer Team to Face Washington & Lee Wednesday in ODAC Tournament

 

            LYNCHBURG , VA – The Lynchburg College women’s soccer team will travel to Washington & Lee University Wednesday for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament semifinal match-up. The second-seeded Generals will host #3 Lynchburg at 2 p.m., with the winner advancing to the finals to face the winner of #1 Virginia Wesleyan/#4 Guilford contest on Saturday on the campus of the highest remaining seed.

Lynchburg Softball Ranks 24th in Team GPA in NCAA Division III

 

            STARKVILLE , MS – The Lynchburg College softball team recently ranked 24th in team grade point average (GPA), according to a list released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

 

            The Hornets compiled a team GPA of 3.29, while finishing last season with a 31-9 record. “I am very proud of the team for accomplishing the 24th highest team GPA in D-III softball…this is a great team accomplishment,” said head coach Dawn Simmons. Hartwick College ranked first in D-III with a 3.596, while Drew University and Emory University were close behind with 3.584 and 3.560, respectively. Bridgewater College was the only other Old Dominion Athletic Conference team on the list of 70, placing 68th with a 2.957.

 

            Lynchburg College opens their season February 18th in Raleigh , NC when they take on Meredith College at 2 p.m.
