Henlopen Conference Wrestling Tournament at Cape Henlopen High School- Lewes,
DE: The Riders of Caesar Rodney took its fifth straight Henlopen Conference
Title crowning five individual champions and becoming the first program to
win five conference titles in a row since team points were initiated in 1982.
Previous titles were in 1982 to 1985 and Dover won from 1991 to 1994. Caesar
Rodney 9, Dover 7 and Smyrna 3 are the only schools to win overall team
titles at the Henlopen Conferences.
Caesar Rodney's Darnell Custis at 125 and Sussex Central's Teddy Thompson
defended their conference titles. Delmar's Nathan Shearer at 152 becomes
Delmar's first Henlopen Conference champion since current coach Matt West won
in 1991. Shearer is a transfer from Connellsville, PA, which high school
wrestling program is ranked fifth in the country.
