Shoremen Fall to Mustangs in 2 OT's
Stem Scores 26 Points; Abbate Drains Seven 3's in Loss

STEVENSON, MD ? Host Villa Julie College outscored visiting Washington
College, 13-6, in the second overtime period to come away with a 100-93
men's basketball victory this evening in the semifinals of the Pride of
Maryland Tournament in Stevenson, MD. The Mustangs improved to 2-0 with the
win, while the Shoremen slipped to 1-1 with the loss.

Anthony Fitzgerald put up game highs of 33 points and 21 rebounds for the
Mustangs. Steven Seagars also cracked the 30-point barrier for Villa Julie,
finishing with 31 points, 13 rebounds, a game-high three blocks, and a
team-high four assists. Phillip Williams added 19 points for the Mustangs.

Senior guard Kyle Stem (Lincoln University, PA/Salesianum, DE) led the
Shoremen with a team-high 26 points, a game-high five assists, and seven
rebounds. Senior guard Dustin Abbate (Oyster Bay, NY/Oyster Bay) scored 23
points and drained seven three-pointers, one off the WC school record, on
13 attempts. Junior forward Joey Breslin (Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti)
added 17 points and a team-best 12 rebounds, while senior forward Jonathan
Webb (Milford, DE/Milford) finished with 12 points. Senior forward Scott
Polyniak (Lake Shore, MD/Mount St. Joseph) matched his career high of nine
points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out a career-high four assists, and
swiped a career-best three steals.

The Mustangs outrebounded the Shoremen, 58-48, in the game. Villa Julie
shot 43% from the field, while Washington shot 44%.

The Shoremen will play either Johns Hopkins or McDaniel in the third-place
game of the Pride of Maryland Tournament tomorrow at Villa Julie. Tip time
is 4:30 p.m.
