February 23, 2003 Delaware drops third straight game at
Coastal Carolina CONWAY, SC -- Coastal Carolina completed a three game weekend series sweep of the University of Delaware baseball team with a 14-5 victory Sunday afternoon at Charles Watson Stadium. Delaware (0-3) fell behind in the first inning for the third consecutive game, 1-0, before Doug Eitelman doubled home Mark Michael in the top of the second inning to tie the game 1-1. Coastal (8-1) answered back with three runs in the second inning to take a 4-1 lead but the Blue Hens got two runs back on a run scoring single by Michael and Kris Dufner scored on a balk to make the score 4-3. The Chanticleers would score three more in the bottom half of the third and tack on six more in the sixth to propel them to victory. Eitelman finished the day 2-for-3 with a two-run home run to left center field in the sixth inning. Nick DeCarlo went 2-for-4 with two singles. Seamus Donovan pitched five innings, allowing three hits and three runs to pick up his second win of the season. Scott Rambo took the loss for Delaware, allowing five hits and six earned runs in three innings of work. Delaware will get back to action this Friday when they visit East Carolina in the first game of a three game series in Greenville, NC. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
