The AI duPont Tigers won the Blue Hen Conference Girl's Basketball Championship with a convincing 73-42 victory. They will head into the first round of State Tournament this Wednesday at the #12 seed and will host #21 Laurel. St. Georges is #11 and they will take on #22 Wilmington Friends.
The Vikings of Cape Henlopen become back-to-back Henlopen Champions as they beat Lake Forest 45-31. Morgan Mahoney led the Vikes with 15 points. She also blocked 5 shots in the game. The Vikings are the #10 seed who will host #23 Red Lion on Wednesday. Lake Forest is the #8 seed. They get a first-round bye and will await the winner of the Woodbridge-Conrad game and play on Friday the 4th. This was the first Henlopen South Conference title with a chance to play for the overall Henlopen Championship for Lake Forest since 1989.
The 2022 Blue Hen Conference Boy's Basketball Champions are the Cavaliers of Middletown. They beat Howard 56-50. Middletown gets a first-round bye in the state tournament as the #8 see. They will play the winner of Dover and Delcastle on Thursday, the 3rd. Howard is the #4 seed and they also play on Thursday after earning a bye. They will play the winner of #13 Smyrna and #20 St. Georges.
