Gabrielle Paolella, an Ursuline senior from the Indoor Track & Field team, won the girls shot put at the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival in Staten Island, N.Y., with a school-record toss of 39 feet, 9¼ inches.

Marie Brainard from the Charter School of Wilmington signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Ursinus University in PA where she will join the field hockey team.

Molly Flanagan is Indoor Track & Field's December athlete of the month.

Molly ran indoor personal best times of 2:20.21 in the 800m, 5:14.15 in the mile and anchored the 4x400m relay team's school record performance with a split of 58 seconds.

Freshman Elsa Lutcher is Padua Swimming's Athlete of the month for December. At her first meets, Elsa scored points for the team in several individual events and achieved state meet qualifying times in all of her events.

CHICAGO (January 13, 2023) — In its 38th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Julia Yurkovich of Saint Mark's High School is the 2022-23 Gatorade Delaware Volleyball Player of the Year. Yurkovich is the seventh Gatorade Delaware Volleyball Player of the Year to be chosen from Saint Mark's High School.

The 5-foot-11 senior outside hitter led the Spartans to a 17-2 record and the state championship match this past season. Yurkovich recorded 298 kills, averaging 4.9 per set, to go with 165 digs, 22 aces and 11 blocks. A Delaware High School Volleyball Coaches Association First-Team All-State for the third straight year, she was also that organization’s Player of the Year.
