2022 Volleyball State Championship

Tower Hill Claims First DIAA Volleyball Title


The Hillers of Tower Hill claimed their first ever DIAA Volleyball State Championship on Monday evening at the University of Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center with a 3-0 sweep of Saint Mark's. Tower Hill won 25-20, 26-24, and 25-20 in consecutive sets.

Tower Hill, as the number 9 seed, made an incredible run through the tournament with straight sweeps over Brandywine, Concord, Smyrna, and Saint Mark's. In a total of five matches, they dropped just one set to Caravel. Along the way, the Hillers took down the number 24, 8, 1, 5, and 3 seeds.

In the consolation match, the Royals of Delmarva Christian defeated Caravel 2-0 to earn the third place trophy. As the number 2 seed, the Royals had victories over Indian River and Caesar Rodney by the score of 3-2.

The Delmarva Christian Royals were the first team from Sussex County to reach the semifinal round of the State Volleyball Championship. Senior Ellie Millaway led the Royals with 13 kills.
