Salesianum Cross Country
Field Hockey
Delmar remains undefeated and wins the regular-season rematch with Cape Henlopen 2-1 to win the Henlopen Conference Championship. Regan Ciabattoni scored first for the Vikings in the first quarter. Maci Bradford and Freshman Laela Brown scored the game-tying and go-ahead goals in the second quarter. Then both high-powered offenses showed their defensive prowess throughout the balance of the game. Delmar took 12 shots on goal and Morgan Newcomb had 3 saves for Cape. The Vikings took 8 shots and Senior goalie Kelly Davis had 4 saves for the Wildcats.
Football
St. Elizabeths rolled to a 53-14 win Friday night over Polytech. Quasim Benson scored three first-half touchdowns and Gavin Andrews scored twice including one 70-yard run. The Vikings are 9-0 in Class 1A with Class 2A Caravel, which is 8-1, remaining on the last day of the regular season.
Salesianum trailed Dover 21-6 at one point in their game on Friday night. They roared back to come from behind scoring 22 4th-quarter points to win 38-28. Conor Campbell scored two rushing touchdowns and threw for 3 touchdowns and 221 yards. Ryan Rzucidlo had 4 catches for 112 yards and one of those touchdowns. Dover ends the regular season 6-4. Sallies is 6-3 with William Penn remaining.
Wayne Knight scored two touchdowns and ran in 2 two-point conversions in Smyrna's 48-7 win over Appoquinimink. Smyrna is 7-2 and the Jaguars 5-4.
Jordan Evans had 2 touchdowns including a 90-yard kickoff return for the unbeaten Woodbridge Blue Raiders. They win 35-6 against Red Lion.
Dominick Pietlock had three touchdowns, a 57-yard run, an 80-yard run and a 20-yard interception return as Tower Hill beats the Pennington School in NJ 35-7.
Osi Chukwuocha rushed for 119 yards and caught one touchdown for Wilmington Friends as they edged Mt. Pleasant 22-20. The Quakers needed a come-from-behind field goal by Alessio Cristanetti-Walker to secure the victory.
Tenye Martin had 3 Touchdowns on the day for Charter. Nick Duncan had 2 rushing TDs. The Force beat Christiana 35-8
Markell Holman scored 2 rushing touchdowns for William Penn as they beat Caesar Rodney 35-0.
Boy's Soccer
Caesar Rodney remains undefeated with just one tie as they beat Indian River for the Henlopen Conference Championship. Thad Glasser and Tebar Gomez both scored two times and had an assist for the Riders.
Volleyball
Padua cruises into the quarterfinals with a 3-0 sweep of Smyrna. Meghan Peters had 14 kills and Audrey Lyons 34 assists to lead the Pandas.
It was the 14th seeded Raiders of Ursuline Academy advancing to the quarterfinal with a win over #3 Red Lion, 3-1. Faith Kleitz led Ursuline with 12 kills. Eliza Schneider had 19 for Red Lion.
Lillian Wenzel's 21 kills helped DMA pull a minor upset of Wilmington Charter 3-1. Delaney Schultz had 39 assists. For Charter Anjali Vishwanathan had 16 kills.
Mya Lewis led the Spartans with 11 kills and she also dished out 16 assists for St. Marks as they knock out Tower Hill in 3 sets. The Spartans will play in the quarterfinals Tuesday at St. Elizabeth's.
Nicole Rankin had 12 kills and Laila Glover 11 as #9 Caravel beats #8 Delmarva Christian 3-1. Sierra Troyer led the Royals with 21 kills. Caravel now advances to play St. Marks in the quarterfinal round.
Isabel Esenyan had 33 assists, McKenna Ritchie 22 digs, and Angela Steinkrauss had 10 kills as Newark Charter advances to the quarterfinals with a 3-0 win over Caesar Rodney. The Patriots will play DMA in the next round at St. Elizabeth's High School.
Noreen Robinson led Wilmington Friends with 17 kills. Abby Carian had 16 and Natalie Bush had 34 assists for the Quakers. Jocelyn Nathan had 22 digs on the defensive side of the court. Sussex Central's Bre Reid had 23 kills and Maddy McTeer 23 assists. Friends advances to the quarterfinals to take on Ursuline.
Dover beats Middletown 3 sets to 1. The #7 seeded Senators will take on Padua at St. Marks on Tuesday.
