The Sanford School announced their Athletes of the Week for week ending 10-11-21




Field Hockey

Wilmington Friends beat Wilmington Christian 8-0. Seen in this picture is the Quakers Madeline Rowland, #3, who scored a goal and added an assist. Lucy Wood, Lily Anderson, and Margo Gramiak each scored twice in the win. They are now 9-1-1 on the year.


Very rarely over the past few decades can the Tatnall Hornets say they beat the Tower Hill school in Field Hockey, but they did yesterday, 3-0. Teryn Singer assisted on two of the goals for the victors.


Jordyn Hollaman scored four goals and assisted on another as the Wildcats of Delmar romp Lake Forest 10-0. The Wildcats have now scored over 100 goals this season.


Morgan Leeper scored goals and Callie Short recorded a hat trick as Sussex Academy beats Seaford 12-2.

Alayna Gigliotti picked up a pair of goals as the Dover Senators beat their district rival the Caesar Rodney Riders 4-3. The Senators are now 7-3-1.


Polytech upsets #3 Sussex Tech 2-1. Big win for the Panthers in the race who see which team ends the regular season ranked #3.

Newark Charter's Brenna Ziegler scored four goals in the Patriots 5-0 win over St. Andrews.

Boy's Soccer

J. Savala scored three times and Illian had 2 goals as Indian River blanks Laurel 7-0.


Salesianum easily over Archmere 5-1 as five different Sals scored in the win.


Sophomore Cristofer Torres-Romero booted 4 goals for Delcastle as the Cougars beat Newark 8-0.

Anthony Gonsales-Escobar scored two for Delcastle.


Christopher Lopez-Ayllon and Luis Castilo-Trujillo each found the back of the AI duPont net twice as the McKean Highlanders beat their district rival Tigers 9-1.


Steven Thompson had a hand in all five of William Penn's goals as the Colonials beat 5-0. He scored twice and assisted on the other three including two of Jose Santillan-Alvarez' goals.


Drew Manocchio had 2 goals and 2 assists for the Brandywine Bulldogs in their 8-0 win over the Odessa Ducks.

Zach Fantine records a hat trick for St. Georges Tech as they beat MOT Charter 7-0 in a growing town rivalry.


The Riders beat the Senators 4-0 on the soccer pitch. Tate Wisniewski scores a hat trick for Ceasar Rodney.



Volleyball Elinor Stull had 21 kills for Sanford but the Warriors dropped a tough match to St. Andrews 3 sets to 2.

Megan Smith had 30 assists for Cape Henlopen. The Vikings drop Milford 3-0.


Anna Richardson leads Smyrna with 17 kills as they defeat Polytech 3-1.

Kimberly Czepukaitis paced the Senators with 17 kills as Dover beats Sussex Central 3-0. Olivia Anwanyu had 38 assists. Brenya Reid had 19 kills for the Golden Knights.
