Ty Montgomery from Red Lion Christian has committed to attend Wilmington University. He will join the Mens Lacrosse program.






Abby Downin, Katie Payne, Ruby Schwelm, Carlita Kaliher, and Katrina Endres were the point scorers for Tatnall as the Hornets won the Great American Cross Country Festival in Cary, NC. 40 different programs from around the region competed in this event.







Milford XC had a great day at the 51st Tidewater Fall Classic in Salisbury, MD. The girls team finished 2nd out of 38 schools, the top Delaware school on the day, and Faith Mitchell and Nate Waydelis finished 4th and 3rd respectively in their races.





Out of 420 runners from 50 schools, Salesianum's Ethan Walther emerged victorious at the Great American Cross Country Festival in the Blue Boys Finals. His time was 15:37.70. James Kennedy took 6th place in 15:58.70 helping lead Salesianum to a 2nd place finish overall as a team.

Also at the Great American Cross Country Festival in the Red Boy's Division, Tatnall won as a team for the 2nd time. They were followed by St. Marks as both Delaware teams outraced the other 38 schools in this division.

Football

Howard beat Wilmington Friends 50-21 in this Class 2A District 1 contest. Amir Maddrey had 3 touchdowns for the Wildcats with his 100-plus all-purpose yards. RJ Matthews threw for 3 touchdowns and ran for one. The Wildcats are 3-2 handing the Quakers their first loss in 5 games.

Tower Hill is 4-1, and undefeated in state so far, as they beat Mt. Pleasant 39-14. Sophomore Quarterback Michael Waesco threw for 5 touchdowns and ran for one for the Hillers.





Tatnall beat McKean 55-20 Rahshan LaMons ran for three touchdowns, passed for two and had a kickoff return for another. The Hornets are 4-1 in 1A District 1.

Red Lion Christian beat Concord 41-7. Jacques Wilson rushed for 183 yards and scored two touchdowns.

St. Georges improved to 8-2 for the year with a straight-set win over Indian River. Kayla Riley led the Hawks with 18 kills.

The Delaware Sports Athletes of the Week

Week Ending 10-7-23



Ryan Atkins from Wilmington Charter's Soccer team. He had a 4-goal, 2-assist performance in a Force victory







Jordyn Hollamon from the Delmar Wildcat Field Hockey team scored 15 goals in two games. The 7 and 8-goal performances were among the best-ever single-game marks in NFHS recorded history. This is her 2nd AOW honor.








Kayla Riley from St. Georges had 37 kills over two matches for the Hawks Volleyball team helping lead the way to two victories






Smyrna's Anna Richardson helped lead the Eagles Volleyball team to two wins with a total of 41 kills against Milford and Caravel. 29 came against Caravel in a 3-2, come-from-behind victory.







Salesianum's Ethan Walther's win at the Great American Cross Country Festival was against over 400 other runners from around the region. This is his 2nd AOW honor.







Rahshan LaMons earns his 2nd AOW honor with his performance on the football field this week. He ran for 3 touchdowns, passed for 2, and ran back a kickoff for another.
