Brooks Kendall from Stephen Decatur HS in Maryland is coming to Delaware to play baseball for the Delaware State Hornet.
Smyrna High is celebrating their quarterback Brian Wright. He threw five touchdown passes in the Eagles’ 44-0 win over Caesar Rodney. A senior in his first season as a starter, Wright completed 16-of-21 passes for 188 yards and a passer rating of 142.5.
Dover High football player Jakwon Kilby ran for 160 yards and a career-high four touchdowns in the Senators’ 33-12 win over Cape Henlopen on Friday night.
Indian River High cross country runner Brynn Crandell won the girls’ small school individual title at the Salesianum Invitational on Saturday. A junior, Crandell finished the Brandywine Creek State Park course in 19:49.96, which was the best girls’ time among 66 runners in the two divisions at the event. Crandell also finished first (19:09) in a quad-meet with Cape Henlopen, Sussex Academy and Sussex Tech on Wednesday.
Delmar High football player Takai Hugee scored three touchdowns in Delmar High’s 35-7 win over Milford. He had a pair of interceptions, one of which he returned for a TD. Hugee also returned a punt 45 yards for a touchdown and scored on a five-yard run.
The CACC passed out honors to three Wilmington Wildcats for their achievements last week. Brice Hansen (Rookie of the Week) and Elly Collins (Defensive Player of the Week,) for the Volleyball team. Chavez Brooks earned Defensive Player of the Week for the Soccer team. Volleyball went 2-0 last week while men's soccer had a big 2-0 shutout win over Post on Homecoming.
Field Hockey
Marie Brainard scored three times and Paige Colburn and Ankita Sharma twice. The Force of Wilmington Charter shutout MOT Charter 9-0.
Adrienne Esterling had three goals and an assist and Emersyn Ruggerio had a goal and two assists. DMA beats St. Georges 5-1.
Boys Soccer
Thomas Hastings and Jace Tierney scored the two goals in the game for Appoquinimink as they beat nationally ranked Salesianum 2-0. Sophomore Riley Buzby has 12 saves for the Jaguars. Appo is 2-2 losing their games to out-of-state teams, one of which was St. Albans, a DC champion from 2021.
